In a major operation aimed at curbing cybercrime, Karimganj police raided several locations across the Barak Valley, including Cachar, leading to the arrest of two individuals involved in a cryptocurrency investment scam. The operation, which took place on Friday evening, uncovered a network of illicit activities, with the suspects found in possession of significant amounts of cyber equipment and fraudulent documents.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sultan Ahmed Choudhury, a resident of Levarputa in Katigorah, and Mostaqin Ahmed Laskar, from Sonai in Cachar District. Both are accused of deceiving people by using fake apps in the name of cryptocurrency, promising high returns.

A case was registered under Ratabari PS (case no. 126/24), and an investigation was launched to probe the scam. Additional Superintendent of Police Karimganj, Patap Das, informed that the two men were detained with the help of Sonai PS and Kalain PS from Cachar DEF. The police have seized all recovered items and are continuing efforts to uncover the full scope of operations behind the fraud.
