In a targeted operation, the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of the Goa Police arrested Karan Govekar (33), a resident of Anjuna, for possession of synthetic drugs worth approximately Rs8.9 lakh.
The arrest took place during a raid at Ozran, Vagator, following a tip-off and weeks of surveillance. ANC PI Sajith Pillai stated that Govekar, who was under watch for several weeks, had shifted his drug operations to daytime in an attempt to evade law enforcement.
Despite his efforts, technical surveillance and informant inputs led ANC officers to intercept him during a delivery. Seized from Govekar were:
37 grams of cocaine
37 grams of methamphetamine
15 high-quality ecstasy tablets
A car used by the accused for narcotics delivery was also seized during the operation.
Police say investigations are ongoing to identify his network and sources of supply, as this arrest marks another significant strike against synthetic drug circulation in the state.
