Kangra, Himachal Pradesh: In a major drug bust, Kangra police arrested two youths from Mandi district after seizing 32.20 grams of “chitta” (suspected heroin) and 286.80 grams of charas during a patrol operation.
A special team from Baijnath Police Station, conducting routine patrolling and traffic checks near the Gankheter railway crossing, intercepted a suspicious car (registration HP 01M-5459). The nervous behavior of the occupants prompted a thorough vehicle search, leading to the discovery of the narcotics concealed inside.
The accused have been identified as Karam Singh (25) from Saned village, and Karna (20) from Lakhwan village, both in Padhar tehsil of Mandi district.
A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Baijnath police station. According to SP Ashok Rattan, a detailed investigation is ongoing to uncover the source of the drugs and possible connections to larger trafficking networks.
This arrest underscores growing concerns about drug trafficking in Himachal Pradesh, especially in transit points like Kangra.
