A Mexican national residing in Kansas City, Roberto Rosales Gonzales, pleaded guilty to federal drug and firearm charges after law enforcement found a significant stash of drugs and weapons in his home. Gonzales, 24, admitted to possessing over a kilogram of methamphetamine and multiple firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking operation.
Gonzales entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Greg Kays on April 1, 2025. He pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine and one count of possession of firearms related to drug trafficking.
On March 21, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Gonzales’s residence, uncovering a staggering 59 firearms, including two suspected machine guns, a firearm silencer, assorted ammunition, and an inert hand grenade.
In addition to the firearms, law enforcement seized:
114.1 grams of suspected fentanyl pills
1.3 kilograms of methamphetamine
31.4 grams of suspected heroin
More than $22,000 in cash
As a result of his guilty plea, Gonzales faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison without the possibility of parole, and up to life in prison.
