The first five suspects—Salim Zakari (20), Faruk Abubakar (17), Yusuf Garba (20), Mastur Shehu (19), and Safiyanu Suleiman (23)—were arrested following a report by Ayuba Muhammad, who alleged that his tricycle was stolen from Panshekara Quarters, Kano, on January 24, 2026.
The stolen tricycle, Registration Number BBR 195 CB and KAROTA Number KMC 1229, valued at ₦3,500,000, was reportedly sold to Umar Bello Dahiru (24) for ₦2,600,000.
The suspects also admitted to stealing another tricycle from Abdullahi Adamu of Yankusa Quarters, which was sold to Dahiru for ₦2,700,000.
Following further investigation, Dahiru was arrested, and both tricycles were recovered. Authorities also recovered a horse valued at ₦800,000, which had been purchased using proceeds from the crimes. Dahiru reportedly confessed to buying the stolen tricycles knowingly.
