Four days after a dramatic armed robbery at Ratneshwari Jewellers in the Bagru area, Jaipur police arrested three accused in connection with the Rs70 lakh jewellery heist that sent shockwaves through the community.

According to DCP (West) Amit Kumar, the robbers — Kanhaiya Lal Sharma alias Chinku Pandit (20), Sohail Pathan (20), and Pyare Lal Luhar (37) — were apprehended after a swift and focused investigation. A fourth accused, identified as Kaushal, is still on the run.

Police said Kanhaiya and Pyare Lal met while in Jaipur Central Jail, where they were imprisoned in an Arms Act case. Upon their release, they began working at IML Containers Private Limited in Bagru’s RIICO area. Despite landing jobs, the two conspired to plan a robbery for quick financial gain. They later roped in Sohail, who traveled from Jodhpur to assist in the crime.

Prior to the heist, the trio conducted surveillance at various potential targets, including a Muthoot Finance branch, before finally choosing Ratneshwari Jewellers, owned by Manmohan Sharma, located in Juggal Bazaar, Bagru.

On July 22, the robbers stormed the store, held the owner and staff at gunpoint, and escaped with gold jewellery worth nearly Rs70 lakh. The bold daytime robbery stirred public outrage and fear.

Police teams acted swiftly, using CCTV footage and informant networks to trace the suspects. The arrested men are now in custody, and efforts are underway to apprehend Kaushal and recover the stolen valuables.
