The Kanchanbagh police have successfully solved the murder case of Zakir Khan (53), which was reported on Wednesday, and arrested two individuals in connection with the killing on Saturday.
The arrested suspects are Mirza Faheem Baig and his cousin Mirza Azeem Baig, both of whom run a pan shop at C-Block, Hafeez Baba Nagar in Kanchanbagh. Another individual, Khurshan, is reportedly absconding and is currently being sought by the police.
According to the police, the motive behind the murder was a long-standing dispute. Zakir Khan, who operated a grocery store adjacent to the pan shop, was upset by customers of the pan shop occupying space in front of his store. Despite repeatedly raising objections, the suspects held a grudge against him.
On the night of Wednesday, an argument broke out between Zakir Khan and the suspects. During the altercation, the suspects severely beat Zakir, and he succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
The police have arrested Mirza Faheem Baig and Mirza Azeem Baig in connection with the incident and are continuing their search for Khurshan, the third suspect involved in the murder.
