The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested two men and recovered stolen property worth nearly Rs1.47 crore in connection with a high-value house burglary reported from Manekbagh Society, Satellite area, officials said on Friday.
The burglary took place between January 11 and 16, when the family of a doctor had locked their residence and travelled out of town for the Uttarayan festival. The accused allegedly broke into the house and stole cash and jewellery.
Following a complaint, the Crime Branch launched an intensive investigation, analyzing over 200 CCTV recordings from the vicinity and using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs.
The arrested individuals were identified as Kamlesh alias Gugo Parmar (29), a resident of Chandkheda, and Mehul Parmar (26), who has lived in multiple parts of Ahmedabad, including Shahpur and Vasna. Officials said Kamlesh is a habitual offender with at least 10 prior cases of house-breaking and theft registered in Ahmedabad and nearby areas.
During the operation, police recovered the entire stolen property, which includes:
Rs45 lakh in cash
2,278.99 grams of gold jewellery, valued at around Rs1.01 crore
557.4 grams of silver jewellery, worth approximately Rs50,000
Diamond ornaments
The total value of the recovered property is estimated at close to Rs1.50 crore. The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway to determine if they are linked to other burglary cases in Ahmedabad.
