Kinston, NC – A major drug investigation led by the Kinston Police Department’s Violent Crime Action Team (VCAT), in collaboration with North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement, resulted in the arrest of Kamal Alzanam, 36, of Kinston.
On August 13, officers executed a search warrant at a business on Old Snow Hill Road, uncovering over 70 grams of marijuana, digital scales, packaging materials, a handgun, and $362 in cash. Alzanam, a convicted felon, was found behind the register with the contraband. He was taken into custody and charged with multiple offenses, including:
Felony Possession of Marijuana
Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Sell/Deliver Marijuana
Three counts of Felony Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Marijuana
The investigation continued the following day, August 14, with a second search warrant executed at a residence on the 1400 block of St. James Place by KPD VCAT, Lenoir County ABC Officers, and the Lenoir County Narcotics Unit.
During the search, detectives recovered approximately 5.5 pounds of marijuana edibles, multiple handgun magazines, $106,320 in U.S. currency, and various passports and identification documents.
As a result, arrest warrants have been issued for Abdullah Ahmed and Ehab Abdulla on several charges, including:
Sell/Deliver Marijuana
Felony Conspiracy
The case remains under active investigation, and authorities say additional charges may be forthcoming.
