A Dearborn Heights man has been charged after authorities discovered a missing 16-year-old girl inside his home, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed.
Kamal Abou Darwiche, 62, faces multiple charges, including child sexually abusive activity, delivery of marijuana to a minor, and harboring a runaway. He is scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.
The teen had been reported missing on March 14, 2025, after fleeing the Vista Maria facility. Her location was last verified on March 17 via security footage, which showed her meeting two men, one believed to be a man in his 30s.
Over a month later, on April 23, police found the girl at Darwiche’s residence on Inkster Road. Darwiche was arrested at the scene.
Prosecutors allege Darwiche kept the teen at his home from March 17 through April 23, during which time he sexually assaulted her. Authorities believe the teen and Darwiche met randomly.
Additional evidence is expected to be presented during the upcoming preliminary examination hearing.
