The Kalyan police arrested two alleged drug peddlers, Faisal Shaikh (31) of Bhandup and Afsar Sattar Shaikh (36) from Nagpur, after seizing 6 kilograms of ganja valued at approximately Rs6 lakh. The confiscation occurred when a patrolling team found a suspiciously parked auto-rickshaw in the Chikanghar area of Kalyan.
As the police approached, the suspects attempted to flee but were quickly apprehended. Upon interrogation, they admitted to transporting the ganja in the auto-rickshaw with the intent to sell it locally.
An FIR has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and both accused were produced in court and remanded to police custody. The investigation continues to identify the source of the drugs, suppliers, and potential buyers.
