The Kadiri Police arrested a 44-year-old habitual offender, Chintakunta Krishna Reddy alias D K Babu alias Dikki Babu, for allegedly cheating a man of Rs10 lakh under the pretext of selling a “rice-pulling” copper vessel with supernatural powers.
Scam Details
The accused claimed he could manufacture a rice-pulling copper vessel and sell it for RsRs2 crore, promising substantial profits.
Believing him, the victim paid Rs5 lakh in June 2025 and another Rs5 lakh in July 2025.
When the victim demanded a refund, the accused threatened him with a knife, confined him, and coerced him into signing promissory notes for Rs7 lakh, also extracting Rs3 lakh from the victim’s associates.
Arrest and Recovery
Reddy was arrested on February 21 at around 5:30 pm near a Y-junction between Kokkanti Cross and Mohammadabad Cross in Tanakal mandal while traveling in a black Toyota Fortuner (AP-40-KF-2349).
