The Saibaba Colony police have arrested 36-year-old K Mariya Mol for allegedly cheating a customer of a real estate firm where she had been previously employed. The victim reportedly lost Rs2 lakh in the scam.
Mariya, a resident of Saibaba Colony, was employed as a marketing executive at a real estate firm on Thadagam Road. According to police, the company had terminated her employment on August 1 due to unsatisfactory performance.
Despite her termination, Mariya concealed this from customers and collected ₹2 lakh from a client who had purchased land through the firm. When the current company executives approached the customer for payment, he stated that the money had already been transferred to Mariya.
Investigation also revealed that Mariya failed to return a company-provided scooter and tablet, along with the defrauded funds. The firm lodged a complaint with the Saibaba Colony police on August 19, prompting a formal investigation.
Mariya was subsequently arrested, produced before court, and lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison.
