K. Dharmaraj Nabbed in Salem Jewellery Theft Case

42 sovereigns recovered from government officer's theft

Salem, Tamil Nadu – The Salem City Police have arrested a man in connection with a significant burglary at the residence of a government official. The accused reportedly stole gold jewellery and cash from the house in Narasothipatti.

The victim, D. Sivakumar (58), is a Joint Director at Sidco and resides in NKN Nagar. On August 10, an unknown intruder broke into his home by forcefully opening the front door lock and made away with 56 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs95,000 in cash.

Following the complaint, the Suramangalam Police registered a case and formed special investigative teams. With the help of CCTV footage, they identified the suspect as K. Dharmaraj alias Dharman (45), a resident of Pulkandiyur near Kaveripattinam in Krishnagiri district.

On Sunday evening, police apprehended Dharmaraj and successfully recovered 42 sovereigns of the stolen jewellery.

Further investigations are underway to recover the remaining valuables and verify any prior criminal history.
