The Magadi Road Police have arrested K.A. Murthy, a 27-year-old former software engineer, for allegedly committing multiple house break-ins and chain snatching incidents in Bengaluru. The police reported that Murthy carried out these crimes to fund his online gambling addiction.

Murthy, a resident of Hongasandra in Begur and a BE graduate from Shivamogga, had reportedly accumulated huge debts due to gambling. Authorities noted that his father was forced to sell their ancestral house to repay loans taken by Murthy.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of his criminal activities and whether he acted alone or with accomplices. This case highlights the growing intersection of cyber gambling and property crimes in the city.
