London City Councilmember Justin Young Arrested on Assault Charges
Justin Young, a city councilmember in London, Kentucky, has been arrested on charges of domestic violence and criminal mischief, according to a complaint warrant obtained by LEX 18.
The 49-year-old was taken into custody on September 15, following two alleged incidents involving a woman over the course of several months. The Laurel County District Court charged Young with fourth-degree assault involving dating violence and second-degree criminal mischief.
The first incident reportedly occurred on May 24 at the woman’s home in Corbin. According to her statement, an argument escalated when Young accused her of infidelity. The complaint alleges Young shoved her into a wooden beam inside her garage and pushed her to the ground. Photographs of bruises on her shoulders were reportedly provided to deputies as evidence.
A second incident allegedly took place on July 20, during which Young is accused of smashing the woman’s iPhone during another argument, causing significant damage.
Young was released on a $2,500 cash bond. Conditions of his release include no contact with the alleged victim and no further violations of the law. He is scheduled to appear in Laurel County District Court on September 17.
