Justin Timberlake Charged with DUI in Sag Harbor, New York
Pop star Justin Timberlake was arrested early Tuesday morning in Sag Harbor, New York, on charges of driving under the influence after police said he ran a stop sign and swerved out of his lane. The 43-year-old singer, known for his time in *NSYNC and his solo music career, was driving a 2025 BMW around 12:30 a.m. when a local officer stopped him.
According to court documents, Timberlake exhibited several signs of intoxication during the stop. Police noted his bloodshot eyes, the strong smell of alcohol on his breath, slurred speech, and unsteady movements. He reportedly told the officer that he had consumed one martini and was driving home from following some friends.
After being arrested, Timberlake was taken to a nearby police station in East Hampton, where he refused a breath test. He was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated (DWI). Timberlake was released without bond after his arraignment and is scheduled to appear in court on July 26.
Edward Burke Jr., Timberlake’s attorney, declined to comment on the incident, confirming that the singer will not need to appear in person for his upcoming court date.
The arrest has attracted significant attention, drawing curiosity seekers to Sag Harbor’s Main Street throughout the day. Even music legend Billy Joel, a Sag Harbor resident, commented on the scene outside the courthouse, saying, “Judge not lest ye be judged.”
Timberlake, a ten-time Grammy winner, rose to fame in the late ’90s as part of *NSYNC and has enjoyed a successful solo career since 2002. He has also made a name for himself as an actor, with acclaimed roles in The Social Network and Friends with Benefits. His Super Bowl halftime performances and past controversies, such as the 2004 “wardrobe malfunction” incident with Janet Jackson, have made him a prominent figure in pop culture.
