BROADWAY, N.C. — Justin Christopher McKinney, 28, of 310 Watson Lake Drive, was arrested on June 5 and held without bond on three felony charges, including obtaining property by false pretense and two probation violations.
According to an arrest warrant, on May 13, McKinney sold a 2004 Chevy truck to Morocco G. Stutson Jr. for $4,000 without possessing the title. Instead, he provided Stutson with a lost title application bearing an owner’s name and signature, while the vehicle was actually owned by Maria Dolores Gonzalez.
McKinney’s probation officer, Joshua Kelly, noted a probation violation on February 26, highlighting pending charges in both Lee and Wake counties.
In Wake County, stemming from June 1, McKinney allegedly acquired a Sony PS2 gaming console, accessories, and 14 video games from Robert Lee via Facebook Marketplace but only paid $49 of the $200 total. Holly Springs Police arrested McKinney, who posted $1,000 bond on June 4.
He also faces charges in Randolph County related to an incident on December 4, 2024, where he allegedly traded a 2022 CF Moto CFORCE 1000 ATV and then reported it stolen.
McKinney’s legal troubles extend to Cumberland County, where he faces four charges, including two felonies for notary violations and altering a vehicle title from September 21, 2023.
On February 26, he received a suspended 6-to-17-month sentence from the North Carolina Department of Correction and two years supervised probation in Lee County. He pled guilty to obtaining property by false pretense after using counterfeit money to purchase a red Honda Rancher ES ATV valued at $1,800 from Dillion Downs.
McKinney was credited for three days in jail and ordered to pay $300 restitution plus $975 in attorney’s fees and court costs.
Previously, McKinney has listed addresses at 37 Calvary Ct., southwest of Broadway, and 1112 W. 3rd St. in Siler City.
