MOBILE, Ala. — Mobile police have confirmed the identities of the victim and suspect in a fatal stabbing that occurred early Tuesday morning.
Authorities were called to the 5400 block of Forest Park Drive around 2 a.m., where they discovered 57-year-old Ronald McGowan dead from stab wounds. Investigators determined that McGowan was fatally stabbed during a struggle with his 34-year-old son, Justin McGowan, following an argument.
Justin McGowan sustained minor injuries during the altercation and was treated at a hospital. After being released, he was arrested and charged with murder. He is currently being held at Metro Jail.
Police initially withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin but later confirmed the names. Investigators described the incident as a domestic altercation that tragically ended in homicide.
