Albuquerque, NM — In a groundbreaking medical malpractice case, a New Mexico jury has awarded over $412 million to a man who was allegedly defrauded by NuMale Medical Center, a multi-state men’s health clinic, which subjected him to unnecessary and damaging treatments. The jury found that the clinic engaged in fraudulent conduct, misdiagnosed the plaintiff, and administered invasive penile injections that caused irreversible damage.

The case, which set a national record for the largest jury award in a medical malpractice lawsuit, centered around allegations of fraud, negligence, and dangerous medical practices. The man, who was 66 years old at the time, sought treatment in 2017 for fatigue and weight loss but was instead treated with “invasive erectile dysfunction shots” after being misdiagnosed. His attorneys argued that the clinic’s conduct was not only medically harmful but also a deliberate attempt to profit from misleading vulnerable patients.

Lori Bencoe, one of the plaintiff’s attorneys, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing the importance of the case in holding medical professionals accountable for their actions. “This is a righteous case,” she said, “There’s no place for licensed professionals to be defrauding patients for money. It’s a breach of trust, and they shouldn’t be allowed to do that.”

The trial, which concluded earlier this month, revealed that NuMale Medical Center set up a fraudulent scheme to convince older men to undergo unnecessary treatments. According to the plaintiff’s legal team, clinic workers pressured patients into agreeing to injections three times a week, threatening them with irreversible damage if they refused.

In response to the verdict, Brad Palubicki, president of NuMale Medical Center, stated that the company continues to focus on providing responsible patient care and maintaining high safety and compliance standards at all of its facilities. However, he declined to comment further on the specifics of the case, citing ongoing legal proceedings.

NuMale Medical Center, which operates across multiple states, including Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, and others, is facing increased scrutiny following the jury’s decision. Court records indicate that the jury found the clinic’s actions not only negligent but also unconscionable, violating New Mexico’s Unfair Practices Act.

This historic verdict highlights the significant financial and reputational consequences for healthcare providers found guilty of fraud and malpractice, setting a precedent for future cases in the industry.
