ST. ANTHONY — A 64-year-old St. Anthony woman is facing over 50 felony charges after allegedly stealing more than $56,000 from a client through her tax services business.

Junell Williams, owner of Williams Tax Service and Chester Payroll, has been charged with 50 counts of computer crime and one count of felony grand theft, according to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.

Court documents state that in 2021, a Rexburg business owner entrusted Williams with $56,381.87 to cover federal payroll taxes, Idaho state taxes, and Idaho unemployment payments. However, investigators say these payments were never made.

Instead, authorities allege Williams withdrew the funds 52 times using a computer, diverting them from the client’s account for personal use. Police say she exploited her professional position and personal friendship with the victim to carry out the theft.

Williams was arrested last Thursday and initially booked into the Fremont County Jail on a $10,000 bond, which was set low due to her lack of prior criminal history. She was later transferred to Madison County Jail and released on bond the following day.

No future court date has been scheduled at this time.

If convicted, Williams could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Please note: Junell Williams has been charged, but not convicted. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
