RICHMOND COUNTY, GA – Authorities have arrested June James in connection to the April death of 32-year-old Devon Laroyce Shade, whose body was discovered in a wooded area off McNutt Road.
Shade was found on April 17th with apparent gunshot wounds and had been deceased for several days before being located. Initially investigated as a suspicious death, the case was later ruled a homicide by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
Following weeks of investigation, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, working with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, arrested June James on Tuesday, June 10th. She was taken into custody without incident and booked at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
James now faces a charge of felony murder.
“This arrest reflects the strength of teamwork and partnerships across agencies,” said Sheriff Eugene Brantley. “We are solving the vast majority of our violent crimes and murders in Richmond County—well above the national average. We won’t stop until justice is served.”
The investigation remains active, and further updates may follow.
