Julius Anthony Victor Bass, 36, of McDonough, was arrested after he forcibly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend outside her workplace in Carrollton, Georgia, on April 2. Police discovered a handgun and drugs in his vehicle during the arrest.
The incident began when the victim’s current boyfriend received an abrupt call disconnect while speaking with her. She had reportedly told him she couldn’t talk and that someone had taken her phone. Using a phone tracking app, the boyfriend alerted authorities as her phone’s location moved near the Carroll County Courthouse.
Officers identified a black 2008 Honda Odyssey as the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Mandeville Avenue. Inside, they found the woman, visibly upset and frightened, and Bass, who was immediately identified as her ex-boyfriend. She told police that Bass had waited for her at her workplace, and when she attempted to flee, he jumped on her vehicle. She continued to drive away but was later ambushed in the parking lot, where Bass physically forced her into his vehicle and threatened her with a firearm.
A search of the van uncovered a handgun and marijuana. Bass was arrested and booked into the Carroll County Jail, facing multiple felony charges, including kidnapping with bodily injury, possession of a firearm during certain crimes, robbery by sudden snatching, and stalking, as well as drug-related offenses.
