GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — Two women from Murrells Inlet were arrested following a fight in Pawleys Island that also involved child neglect charges.
Juliann Fay Vithoulkas, 44, was charged with unlawfully placing a child at risk of harm or willfully abandoning the child, according to booking records. Shaquandra Palmer-Bennett, 34, faces charges of unlawful neglect of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The incident occurred on September 16 around 6:40 p.m., when Georgetown County deputies responded to reports of a fight at a location in Pawleys Island. Witnesses told deputies the women had encountered the victims in a parking lot after leaving Chick-Fil-A in Murrells Inlet.
Though it remains unclear who started the fight, deputies say Vithoulkas physically assaulted one victim by pulling her hair while she was on the ground and striking her multiple times on the side of the head with a bottle, according to the arrest warrant. Palmer-Bennett was also involved in the altercation.
Vithoulkas was released from the detention center on a $5,000 bond, while Palmer-Bennett was released on a $10,000 bond.
