Judith Douglas, 57, from Bodden Town, was arrested over the weekend in connection with a rental scam in George Town. The woman is accused of taking down payments from at least five individuals who were looking to rent an apartment on Diaz Lane, only to later discover that she was not in a position to lease the property to anyone.
Douglas is facing five charges of obtaining property by deception. The victims paid deposits for the rental, but none of them gained access to the unit, and their money was not refunded.
She was scheduled to appear in Summary Court on Wednesday, 8 March, to face the charges.
