In a significant verdict, Judge Manish Ganorkar on Thursday sentenced three individuals to life imprisonment for the murder of 36-year-old Raju Kukurde in Bhim Nagar, Kamptee.

The convicts — Rupesh Dilip Biraha (35), Shubhangi Raju Kukurde (30), and Harichandra Rajendra Biraha (36) — were each fined Rs 5,000. In default of payment, they will serve an additional three months of rigorous imprisonment.

According to the police charge sheet, Rupesh was in an illicit relationship with Shubhangi, the victim’s wife. On the night of August 7, the trio conspired and strangled Raju to death using a pillow.

The charge sheet was filed by Investigating Officer Suresh Kannake, while Advocate Kalpana Pandey served as the government prosecutor in the case.
