Troy, NY – A 26-year-old Troy man has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal stabbing on Third Street earlier this week.
On the morning of April 21 around 7:45 a.m., police responded to an assault report and found 47-year-old Kevin R. Hall Jr. suffering from stab wounds. Hall was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators quickly identified Juan Rivera as the suspect. According to police, Rivera and Hall were known to each other and had reportedly gotten into a dispute over property, which escalated into a physical confrontation that turned deadly.
Detectives located Rivera at a hotel in Latham and arrested him around 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Authorities noted that Rivera had been released from prison just weeks earlier and was on probation for a prior assault conviction from 2021.
Following arraignment in Troy City Court, Rivera was held at the Rensselaer County Jail. The Troy Police Department is asking anyone with additional information to contact them at (518) 270-4777 or submit a tip via their official website.
