CERES, Calif. — Two individuals were arrested Thursday evening after a traffic stop led police to discover fentanyl with intent to sell.
At approximately 7:29 p.m., Officer Angel Diaz stopped a Toyota 4-Runner in the 1300 block of Hatch Road for vehicle code violations. Upon checking the driver’s records, officers learned Juan Ramos, 41, of Ceres, had an outstanding warrant related to shoplifting and controlled substance possession. Ramos was taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a white powdery substance suspected to be fentanyl on the driver’s side, as well as additional fentanyl found in the purse of passenger Jade Sheppard, 20, of Modesto.
Due to the quantity of fentanyl, a roll of tinfoil, and other evidence, both Ramos and Sheppard were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
Both suspects were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, and the investigation remains active.
