Juan Peterson-Gannon Arrested for Mail Theft in Union County

Suspect accused of stealing cash and checks, dumping other mail

by Sophia Bennett

A suspected mail thief has been arrested in Union County after deputies linked him to a series of thefts near Highway 218 in Unionville during June.

Authorities say 41-year-old Juan Peterson-Gannon repeatedly traveled from his home in Fayetteville to steal mail from multiple homes. He allegedly kept mail containing cash or checks and discarded the rest along the roadside.

Witness descriptions and license plate reader technology helped investigators identify and track down Peterson-Gannon.

He now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges related to mail theft and is being held at the Union County Detention Center on a $375,000 bond.

The investigation remains active, and authorities are urging residents to report any suspicious activity involving mail.
