DES MOINES, Iowa — A second arrest has been made in connection to a robbery and shooting that occurred in Ames earlier this year.

Juan Davila Moore, 23, is currently being held in the Story County Jail on charges of first-degree robbery and attempted murder, according to a news release from the Ames Police Department.

The arrest is related to the shooting incident that took place on February 27 in the 2500 block of Jensen Avenue. The victim, a 19-year-old male, was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center by private vehicle after suffering a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

The victim told police that he was robbed and shot by two males who fled the scene in a dark-colored four-door car. He provided detailed descriptions of the suspects. According to a criminal complaint filed in the case, the shooting occurred during a drug deal.

Davila Moore is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 28.

Earlier in March, the first suspect, Maliek W. Dut, 22, was arrested. He faces charges including first-degree robbery, attempted murder, willful injury resulting in serious injury, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, and going armed with intent. Dut has pleaded not guilty, and his trial is set for June 3, 2025. He is also being held at the Story County Jail.

Both suspects remain behind bars as the investigation continues.
