Juan Carlos Gutierrez, 34, also known as “Johnny G” from Montebello, California, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his role in distributing fentanyl that caused a fatal overdose at a Long Beach drug treatment facility, as announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.
According to court documents, Gutierrez supplied fentanyl to co-defendant Jayleen Feusier, 37, of South Gate, on December 9, 2021. Feusier then provided the lethal drug to a 34-year-old man at the Long Beach facility, which resulted in his tragic death.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed that Feusier purchased the fentanyl from Gutierrez for $60. She then packaged one gram of the drug, concealed it in a plastic bag inside a black T-shirt, and arranged an Uber delivery to the victim. After receiving the package around 11 p.m., the victim returned to the facility. Six hours later, he was found dead in the living room with drug paraphernalia nearby. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death as a fentanyl overdose.
Feusier, who has been in federal custody since February 2024, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and was sentenced to over eight years in prison in August 2024.
Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph McNally stated, “The distribution of fentanyl is causing incredible devastation to families and communities. Today’s sentencing serves as a reminder that those who peddle these lethal drugs and fuel this crisis will be held accountable for the destruction they cause.”
