SAN ANGELO, TX — Juan Banda, 50, was arrested by San Angelo Police on June 14, 2025, following a robbery involving an assault and the theft of a bike and glasses.

Police responded around 2:30 p.m. to the intersection of 9th Street and Oakes Street after a victim reported being punched and robbed. The victim suffered a brow injury and said his bicycle and glasses were stolen.

The victim said he was riding near 9th and Magdalen Streets when a red pickup truck cut him off. Jason Esparza, a passenger, confronted the victim about money owed and struck him, causing the injury. The victim believed Esparza was wearing brass knuckles or a ring during the assault.

Afterward, Banda, the driver, loaded the stolen bike and glasses into the truck bed before fleeing. Officers located the pickup on East 10th Street and recovered the glasses and bike.

Banda admitted to driving the truck and assisting Esparza in recovering the bike during a Miranda interview, providing details only the victim knew. Banda is held in Tom Green County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
