RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Two men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a man was shot in Corona during the early morning hours of May 4, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded around 5:20 a.m. to a report of a shooting in the 3900 block of South Temescal Street, where they found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds and other injuries. The suspects had already fled the scene by the time deputies arrived.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover, as his injuries were not life-threatening.
After gathering evidence at the scene and conducting an investigation, detectives identified Juan Manuel Lopez Jr., 42, and Alexandro Lopez, 38, both of Corona, as the main suspects. A search warrant executed at the home the two men shared led to the discovery of a firearm, ammunition, and additional evidence linked to the assault.
Alexandro Lopez was arrested the next day in the 100 block of North McKinley Street. On May 7, Juan Manuel Lopez Jr. voluntarily turned himself in at the Robert Presley Detention Center.
Both suspects are charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit attempted murder, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Authorities have not released a motive or details about the suspects’ relationship to the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
