MIAMI, Florida — Joy Chandra Nath, 29, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend Maria Camila Garcia-Molina, 24, to death. The crime came to light when a neighbor discovered Garcia-Molina’s 3-year-old daughter wandering alone in their apartment complex’s parking lot with dried blood on her face and clothing, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the toddler led investigators to the scene where Garcia-Molina’s body was found in her car, hidden under blankets in the back seat. She had sustained multiple stab wounds to her neck, torso, and arms.
The child reportedly told police that her mother had been with a man named “Joy” who had “hit her in the head” and that she was now “sleeping,” according to an arrest report.
Nath, who has a history of stalking Garcia-Molina during their five-month relationship, was the subject of a restraining order filed by the victim. Their relationship had ended in November 2024, but Nath continued to follow and harass her, including an incident in January when he was seen hiding behind trash cans near her home.
Just one day before her death, Garcia-Molina met her boyfriend at Dolphin Mall, where Nath appeared and confronted him. Hours after her body was discovered, Nath returned to the complex with his headlights off and was stopped by police. He claimed he was returning her purse. Officers observed scratches and bruises on his face and upper body.
He was taken into custody, and authorities later found Garcia-Molina’s phone and purse inside his vehicle. Cellphone data also indicated that her phone had traveled from her home to Nath’s residence before ending up at the location where her body was found.
Nath has also been charged with child abuse and remains in custody pending further proceedings.
