Suspect Fled from Deputies, Found Hiding in Woods

by Amelia Crawford

WALTON COUNTY, FL — A 40-year-old man, Joshua Sohne, is facing multiple charges after a homeowner in Mossy Head discovered him inside their residence on Saturday.

Deputies responded to Jeanine Way after receiving a call from a homeowner who suspected Sohne was squatting. Initially, the homeowner requested Sohne be trespassed from the property, but further investigation revealed that he had stolen and moved items within the home.

When deputies attempted to detain Sohne, he shoved an officer and fled on foot. A taser was deployed but was ineffective. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Walton Correctional K-9 Teams, Florida Highway Patrol, and Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, assisted in tracking the suspect.

Sohne was eventually found hiding in the woods and taken into custody. He now faces burglary, petit theft, resisting arrest, providing a false name to law enforcement, and battery on a law enforcement officer charges.

Authorities set his bond at $23,000, and he remains incarcerated.
