Police in Columbia have arrested a 19-year-old man accused of stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise before crashing into another business while attempting to flee.
The Columbia Police Department said Joshua Porch Jr. is facing charges of second-degree burglary, grand larceny, and malicious injury to real property following a Wednesday incident.
Investigators allege Porch broke into a Metro by T-Mobile store located at 7350 Garners Ferry Road and stole merchandise valued in the thousands of dollars.
Authorities said a patrol officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. However, Porch allegedly continued driving until he crashed into the Take 5 Car Wash building at 7800 Garners Ferry Road.
The investigation remains ongoing.
