IDAHO FALLS, ID – A 43-year-old Pocatello man, Joshua Edward Maddock, was arrested Monday night after leading police on a dangerous pursuit that caused over $25,000 in damages and left a trail of destruction through Idaho Falls.
Maddock faces a long list of charges, including felony eluding, malicious injury to property (two counts), possession of a controlled substance, and destruction of evidence. He’s also charged with misdemeanors for DUI, resisting arrest, failure to stop after an accident (two counts), and drug paraphernalia possession, along with citations for speeding 98 in an 80 mph zone and failing to wear a seatbelt.
Idaho State Police say the ordeal began when they received reports of a reckless driver swerving, speeding, and nearly hitting other vehicles on Interstate 15. Officers stopped the vehicle at Love’s Truck Stop and found Maddock appearing impaired and lethargic. He admitted to using marijuana earlier and gave officers permission to search his vehicle.
The situation escalated when officers reportedly found two fake urine bottles in the car. Maddock became agitated, broke free from officers attempting to detain him, ignored multiple Taser deployments, and fled in his vehicle—crashing into fueling equipment at Love’s, then damaging a ditch and ultimately crashing through Rush Truck Repair’s gate.
Police later found Maddock hiding inside a bus in a fenced area behind Rush Truck Repair. Officers recovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana-related items from Maddock’s vehicle and surrounding area.
Damages are estimated at over $20,000 at Love’s and $5,000 at Rush Truck Repair.
Maddock, who was already on probation for eluding police until 2029, refused a DUI blood test and was booked into Bonneville County Jail on a $100,000 bond. He’s scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 24 and could face over 30 months in prison if convicted.
