Joshua Deon Buchanan Arrested in Birmingham on Drug Trafficking Charges

Authorities seize drugs, paraphernalia in February 13 search

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBMA) – 36-year-old Joshua Deon Buchanan was arrested on February 13 in connection with drug trafficking and possession of controlled substances after the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) executed a search warrant.

Buchanan faces charges including drug trafficking, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The search was conducted in the 6800 block of Joppa Avenue, where narcotics detectives, along with the SWAT team, found multiple illegal substances.

Among the items seized were 31 grams of marijuana, 3.52 grams of methamphetamine, 3.37 grams of fentanyl, a fentanyl/methamphetamine compound weighing 1.96 grams, 1.5 grams of Alprazolam pills, 0.5 grams of oxycodone pills, and 2 grams of Xtampza pills (opioids). Additionally, law enforcement found drug scales and baggies used for distribution.

Buchanan is currently being held on a bond of $526,000.
