DIXFIELD, Maine — Two men were arrested for alleged drug trafficking in Dixfield on Tuesday, following an investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA).
MDEA Western District Task Force agents had been investigating drug trafficking at the residence of 38-year-old Joshua Campbell at 57B High Street. Undercover purchases were made, which included crack cocaine, leading to the execution of a search warrant at the property on April 1, 2024.
When authorities arrived at 9 a.m., Campbell attempted to block their entry but was quickly arrested. A second suspect, 33-year-old Kenneth McCollum of Portland, was confronted outside the residence after he attempted to flee by opening a second-floor window. McCollum threw a firearm before returning inside. Agents later found McCollum in a bathroom where he was attempting to destroy several bags of illegal drugs.
Both men were arrested without further incident. During the search, agents seized approximately 225 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine, 10 grams of fentanyl, various unidentified pills and capsules, three loaded firearms, and $4,350 in drug proceeds.
Campbell faces charges of aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs (cocaine) and obstruction of government administration. McCollum faces charges of aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs (cocaine), possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and violation of conditional release. Additionally, McCollum had an outstanding arrest warrant from Somerset County for failing to appear in court for drug trafficking and firearm charges. He was not wearing his electronic monitoring device, which he had previously removed, and had a $100,000 bail set on the warrant.
Both men were taken to Oxford County Jail, with Campbell’s bail set at $25,000. The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, Rumford Police Department, and U.S. Border Patrol assisted with the investigation and search.
