by Sophia Bennett

PHILIPPI, W.Va. — Joshua Bennett, 43, was arrested after police say he kidnapped a man he met on the dating app Grindr and force-fed him methamphetamine for two days.

According to the Philippi Police Department, Bennett picked up the victim following their Grindr meeting and took him to his residence against his will. The victim reported asking Bennett three times to be let out while en route to the home.

Once inside, the victim observed multiple individuals using methamphetamine. Court documents state Bennett tried to tie the victim’s hands but was persuaded not to do so. When the victim asked to leave, Bennett allegedly threatened him with physical violence, warning he would hit him with rings on his hand and smash his head against a rock.

The victim waited until everyone fell asleep before managing to escape and contact authorities.

Bennett faces one count of kidnapping and is currently held at Tygart Valley Regional Jail with no bond set.
