Authorities have arrested a 44-year-old man in connection with an alleged solar installation fraud in Phelan, California, and investigators say there could be additional victims.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded around 2:49 p.m. on December 12, 2025, to a reported fraud in the 3000 block of Coyote Road.

Investigators said an adult female resident reported being contacted by Josh Reiff, a 44-year-old man from Hesperia, who offered to install solar panels at her home. Reiff allegedly met with the victim in person and discussed financing options for the proposed solar installation project.

During the process, Reiff reportedly requested several payments in advance to begin work on the installation. Authorities say the victim paid approximately $2,100 toward the project.

However, after receiving the money, Reiff allegedly failed to install the solar panels and stopped responding to the victim’s calls and messages.

Following an investigation, deputies arrested Reiff on March 10, 2026. He was later transported and booked at the High Desert Detention Center.

Detectives believe other victims may have been targeted in similar incidents. The investigation is being handled by the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station, and authorities are urging anyone who may have been contacted by the suspect or who has related information to come forward.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station or the sheriff’s dispatch center.
