FULTON, MO — Joseph Underwood, a Fulton resident and neighbor to the victim, was arrested in connection with a burglary on County Road 219 in Callaway County. Deputies responded to the reported burglary on January 25, 2025, where the homeowner discovered over $2,500 worth of firearms, firearm parts, and reloading equipment had been stolen.

During their investigation, authorities discovered that Underwood, who had been arrested on January 19, 2025, by the Fulton Police Department for unlawful possession of a firearm, tampering with evidence, and resisting arrest, was linked to the burglary. One of the firearms Underwood had during his previous arrest was found to be among the stolen items.

On February 4, 2025, the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Underwood’s residence on County Road 410. Deputies recovered approximately $2,000 worth of stolen property, including three additional firearms.

Underwood was interviewed on February 6, 2025, and subsequently arrested for his role in the burglary. He was formally charged on February 7, 2025, with first-degree burglary, stealing over $750, and unlawful possession of a firearm. A judge denied bond, and Underwood remains in custody at the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation continues, and the stolen firearms and reloading equipment are being returned to the rightful owner.
