MALTA, NY (WRGB) — A traffic stop for a vehicle registration infraction on Interstate 87 in Malta led to felony drug charges for two men, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday evening.
Officers stopped the vehicle due to a damaged and incorrectly placed registration. During the investigation, Joseph L. Plummer, 36, of Galway, and Allen J. Wood, 43, of Corinth, were found in possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
Both were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree (class D felony), possession in the 7th degree, and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the 2nd degree (class A misdemeanors).
Authorities allege Plummer and Wood knowingly possessed 500 milligrams or more of cocaine and drug scales intended for illegal use. Plummer was additionally cited for the registration infraction.
They were arraigned before Judge Timothy M. Brown in Milton Town Court. Plummer was remanded to Saratoga County Jail, while Wood was released to pretrial services pending further court proceedings in Malta Town Court.
