Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck reported the arrest of 33-year-old Joseph Mattice of Conquest on August 21 following a domestic incident.
According to deputies, Mattice struck a victim in the face, causing a nosebleed, and later grabbed the victim’s clothing around the collar, restricting their breathing. After the assault, Mattice fled into a nearby wooded area before deputies located and took him into custody.
Mattice was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and menacing in the third degree. He was transported to the Public Safety Building for processing and arraignment.
