CLIMAX, GA — Joseph Kelly, 38, the mayor of Climax, Georgia, has been arrested and charged with two counts of child molestation, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). His wife, Natalie Kelly, 44, was also taken into custody and charged with two counts of second-degree cruelty to children.
On Saturday, May 31, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office called in the GBI to assist in investigating serious allegations against Joseph Kelly involving sexual contact with multiple minors. Both Joseph and Natalie Kelly were arrested the same day by GBI agents and local investigators.
They were booked into the Decatur County Jail, where they remain in custody.
Joseph Kelly also works for the Decatur County School District. Authorities have stated that, at this time, there is no evidence linking the alleged crimes to his professional role in education.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Once completed, findings will be handed over to the South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
The GBI is asking anyone with information related to the case to come forward as they continue their inquiry into the matter.
