Joseph Fleshman Arrested for 2020 Murder of Deangelo Cummings

Man charged in fatal Columbus shooting after five years

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office arrested 36-year-old Joseph Fleshman on Friday in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred more than five years ago.

Fleshman has been charged with murder in the death of 32-year-old Deangelo Cummings, whose shooting happened on July 1, 2020, in Columbus’ North Hilltop neighborhood.

Police responded to a call shortly before 12:30 a.m. at a home on North Wheatland Avenue near Interstate 70 and West Broad Street. Upon arrival, officers found Cummings suffering from a gunshot wound on the front porch. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Fleshman is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday to face the murder charge.
