MOUNT JULIET, Tenn. — A man from Nunnelly, Tennessee, is facing multiple charges after police say he was caught driving a stolen vehicle on Interstate 40 while his license was revoked.
According to an arrest report from the Mount Juliet Police Department, officers pulled over a 2003 Chevrolet Impala on April 22 after noticing it driving erratically and discovering that its license plate was not in the system. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers identified the driver as Joseph F. Taylor, 31, and confirmed through the National Crime Information Center that his license had been revoked in 2022 for a DUI in Dickson County.
Further checks revealed that the Impala had been reported stolen from a residence in White Bluff on January 27. The vehicle had belonged to a deceased homeowner, and the house had been vacant. A neighbor had previously reported seeing a suspicious gray vehicle on the property.
Taylor claimed he purchased the car for $600 from a friend, while his female passenger said she was unaware it was stolen. The passenger was later released.
Taylor was charged in Wilson County with driving on a revoked license and theft of property valued between $2,500 and $10,000. Authorities in Dickson County are also seeking a grand jury indictment for theft of property in connection to the stolen vehicle.
Taylor is scheduled to appear in Wilson County General Sessions Court on May 6.
