Joseph Cook Charged in Dothan Home Invasion, Assault

Ashford man held on $560K bond after attack

A 22-year-old Ashford man, Joseph Cook, is facing multiple felony charges and a $560,000 bond following an alleged sexual assault near Dothan.

According to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home in the 7300 block of Highway 231 on August 28 after receiving reports of a sexual assault. The victim, who had reportedly known Cook for a short time, told authorities he entered her home without permission and sexually assaulted her.

After the incident, Cook allegedly left the scene but later returned to retrieve evidence he had left behind.

Later that day, law enforcement located and arrested Cook in the 6800 block of Highway 84. He was taken into custody and booked into the Houston County Jail.

Cook is charged with burglary, rape, sexual abuse, and aggravated criminal surveillance. The investigation remains ongoing.
