Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, assisted by D-Shift patrol deputies, arrested 23-year-old Joseph Byrd on Dec. 10, officials said. Authorities noted the investigation was launched after residents reported concerns about street-level drug distribution in the community.

Byrd faces the following charges:

Possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana

Possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance

Felony possession of marijuana

Maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances

Officials said Byrd was issued a $7,500 secured bond.

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the case demonstrates the importance of community involvement and encouraged residents to continue reporting suspicious or criminal activity.
