LA GRANGE, N.C. — A La Grange man was arrested Wednesday after an investigation by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office that began with citizen complaints about suspected drug activity.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, assisted by D-Shift patrol deputies, arrested 23-year-old Joseph Byrd on Dec. 10, officials said. Authorities noted the investigation was launched after residents reported concerns about street-level drug distribution in the community.
Byrd faces the following charges:
Possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana
Possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance
Felony possession of marijuana
Maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances
Officials said Byrd was issued a $7,500 secured bond.
The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the case demonstrates the importance of community involvement and encouraged residents to continue reporting suspicious or criminal activity.
