LAREDO, Texas – A Laredo man faces multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a woman and injuring a child who tried to intervene, authorities said.
Jose Antonio Luna, 34, was arrested on November 24 following an incident at an apartment on the 2600 block of Monterrey Street, according to Laredo police.
Officers encountered Luna as he was about to leave the scene and detained him for investigation. Police said Luna grabbed the woman by the hair, assaulted her, and then kicked her while she was on the ground.
When the woman’s 10-year-old son tried to intervene, Luna reportedly pushed him, causing the child to bump his head on a bed frame. He also allegedly tried to grab the woman’s phone as she attempted to call 911.
Luna was charged with assault causing bodily injury of a family member, injury to a child, and interference with an emergency request for assistance.
